This week was one of the best and worst weeks at the same time.
My grandfather passed away at 84 years old, and the whole family gathered together in Salt Lake to celebrate his life. He lived an absolutley amazing life you can read about here. Beautiful funeral services were held in West Jordan followed by a lovely burial in South Salt Lake. This experience made us both especially thankful for the plan of Salvation and the knowledge that families will be together forever and that we will see Grandpa Giliam again one day.
The day after the funeral, we celebrated Tyler's 28th (!!) birthday. It consisted of golf, shopping, eating, and spending time with his future in-laws! Even though he may be 28 years old, he is still the goofiest and youngest at heart 28-year-old I have ever met. His age doesn't phase me one bit - I still fall in love with him more everyday.
After Tyler's birthday, we took my brothers and mom on a tour of Temple Square and downtown Salt Lake City. My brothers hadn't been to Temple Square since they were little, and it was so fun to show them around! Temple Square is one of my favorite places and I love spending time there. I swear my brothers love Tyler more than I do... they can't get enough of him and I love it!
This summer is the first time I have spent a summer away from home, and I was worried that I would get homesick and miss my family too much. Having them here this week was such a blessing, even though it wasn't for the happiest occasion. Such mixed feelings about this week! But overall, it was a wonderful and reassuring week that families really are together forever.
